How it Started
Trace, your DFW Home Safety Expert, started his journey at the University of Texas Medical Branch where he became a Doctor of Physical Therapy and is very passionate about it. However, he often found himself frustrated by the barriers that his clients’ homes presented. In order to address this issue, he joined forces with his sister and together they created a company called Enduring Home Solutions.
His Experience
Trace started his physical therapy career back in 2016, working with a contracting company in Home Health. It was a great experience for him because he got to see firsthand the struggles that people face in their own homes. But after becoming a dad to twin boys, he decided to switch things up and started working in a multi-disciplinary outpatient clinic. There, he set up a wheelchair clinic and even revamped the vestibular rehab program.
Throughout this time, Trace never forgot the challenges his clients face at home. When COVID hit, he joined the inpatient rehab team, focusing on helping clients get back to their homes as soon as possible. He worked closely with case managers and social workers to plan seamless discharges and ensure the necessary equipment was provided. Trace’s ultimate goal was to make sure his clients could thrive long-term. With that focus, he was determined to establish a wheelchair clinic that offered personalized evaluations. He struggled with being the person to tell people they would likely be needing a wheelchair to return home and for movement within their prior environment. He would also explaining the barriers most homes have to wheelchair accessibility.
However, despite his hard work, Trace couldn’t ignore the significant gap between hospital settings and the home environment. While he could give excellent recommendations in the hospital, he realized it was a big ask for families to implement them on their own. This realization motivated him even more to bridge the divide and find solutions that would truly make a difference. Trace is on a mission to ensure that everyone has the support and equipment they need to thrive in their own homes.
